Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House Spokane provides a home away from home so families can stay close by their hospitalized children.  All families are able to stay at no charge. The respite provided by Ronald McDonald House cannot be measured. It is a quiet, secure place for families in crisis. Parents and families of children with dangerous and potentially life-threatening illnesses and injury are under a tremendous amount of stress. The House provides a consistent and caring environment, lessening the mental and financial strain on families and allowing them to focus on what matters most: getting their children well.

Over 60% of the families who stay with us had no idea that they would need our services just 24 hours prior to arriving. Approximately 65% of the families staying with us are here with a premature infant, 25%  to receive specialized oncology treatment for their children, and 10% due to trauma or another illness. The average length of stay is approximately 30 days, but families have stayed with us off and on for as long as 9 years. Unfortunately, we consistently have a wait list of 15-25 families.

Each family’s story is different, and not all have happy endings. When families arrive at our doorstep, we do not know what the future holds. What we do know is that caring for families while they focus on their child is the mission that drives us forward every day.

We welcome you to come by and see “the House that love built”. Please call Dana Pendergrass at 509-624-0500 or email her at danap@rmhspokane.org to arrange a tour.
